Twinning 2026 Open Call: Connect with Europe’s Leading Research Institutions
The European Commission has launched the HORIZON-WIDERA-2026-02: Twinning call, aimed at research organisations and higher education institutions from Widening countries (including the Czech Republic) that seek to strengthen their international cooperation, research excellence, and institutional capacities.

Twinning connects research institutions from Widening countries with leading research organisations in the EU. Its goal is to enhance research quality, strengthen the skills of research teams and project management, and build long-term strategic partnerships. The project coordinator must be an institution from a Widening country (e.g. the Czech Republic). The consortium must include at least two leading research organisations from different EU Member States or associated countries.
What can you gain from the project
A successful Twinning project will enable you to:
- develop cooperation with top European research institutions,
- increase the reputation, visibility and attractiveness of your organisation,
- strengthen the competences of researchers, PhD students and research managers,
- improve research and project management and prepare for participation in large Horizon Europe projects.
The project may include researcher exchanges, workshops, summer schools, training activities, expert visits, and activities to strengthen research management. To a limited extent (up to 30%), it may also include your own research activities.

- Call deadline: 9 April 2026,
- project budget: EUR 0.8–1.5 million,
- project duration: up to 3 years.
